The beaches in general. Cala d'Or comprises five small but wonderful beaches. All of them are located far inside small bays and surrounded by cliffs on both sides. The two biggest beaches are the central Cala Gran and the northern Cala Ferrera. Cala Esmeralda is medium-sized, while Cala d'Or (like the town) and Cala Serena are small.

The Parc Natural de Mondragó nature reserve is not too far from Es Forti. The natural ecosystem remains intact with exquisite sandy beaches, including Ses Fonts de n'Alísals and Cala Mondragó, not disturbed by any human development. Paths to the beaches take you for a leisurely walk, with some small beach bars greeting you at your destination.

There are 2 land train routes around the Cala d'Or area. The Cala d'Or Express yellow covered the area towards Cala Ferrera and the blue line did a circuit towards Cala Egos and Es Forti. It can either be used as a one way hop on, hop off (€2.50 per person) or a complete tour lasting around 1 hour (€4.50 adults, €3 children).

Worth a visit, but don't expect to see many wild animals. There are some good, fairly short, easy walks through the bush, and two very nice beaches. The beaches can be rather crowded on weekends in the summer. I read some negative vews about the restaurant, but I have been there 3 times, and found the food great, the service OK, and the prices.
